A woman was shot multiple times while trying to put her child in a vehicle.

Katario Richardson, 24, recently was indicted for aggravated assault in connection with the incident.

At 1:09 p.m. on Nov. 17, Beaumont police officers received a report of a shooting victim in the 1900 block of Southerland Street. The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital and was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to court documents.

The woman said that she was loading her child into a vehicle when an SUV, occupied by three men, pulled up to the intersection of Southerland Street and Southern Pacific Road and began firing before heading down Southern Pacific Road, the documents said.

Multiple shell casings and a single Nike slide shoe were found at the scene, according to the documents.

Officers found the suspects' vehicle at a gas station on the 2500 block of 4th Street after the passenger in the vehicle called 9-1-1, according to the documents. The documents were unclear, however, as to when the passenger called 9-1-1 or what they were reporting.

The front passenger was identified as Richardson, who was found in possession of a gun of the same caliber as the casings found at the scene, according to the documents. Police also found a single Nike slide in the floor of the passenger seat.
